A LIFE, STILL UNFOLDING

Along the way.From a problem,
to a wider world.

I’m Jiaju Wu, a mathematics student at PKU.
Curious about how things work—and about
the people and places along the way.

THE GROWING YEARS

Growing, year by year

Time is the stem; memories are the branches.
Milestones and little moments, growing together.

A small medal. A whole chapter.

01SEP — DEC 2023 / PROVINCIAL TEAM · CMO GOLD

The competition yearsOne problem,
a wider world.

In September, I joined the provincial team. In December, I won a CMO gold medal. A small golden keepsake from a year spent with mathematics.

LOOKING BACK · JUN 2025Do I regret missing my final year of high school?
A new chapter at PKU.

02AUG 2024 / ARRIVING AT PEKING UNIVERSITY

Arriving at PKUA new campus.
More questions to ask.

The Mathematics Talent Program in January; arriving at PKU in August. That year also brought a CMC Second Prize and, in October, my first steps with Python—a new way to express mathematical ideas.

A NEW BRANCH · OCT 2024Hello, world. Learning to think in Python.
A SMALL MEMORY · JUN 2025Bookstalls and lights in graduation season
More than the everyday me.

03CAMPUS LIFE / ARTS & PERFORMANCES

On stageA little time
in the spotlight.

A microphone, a stage, and a photograph with everyone afterwards. Another side of campus life, kept in these performance memories.

A photograph full of shared time.

042025 — 2026 / STUDENT UNION

After the meetingsWorking together,
passing the torch.

Academic talks, mock exams, and a department website. Alongside the work, there were dinners, group photographs, and a few less serious moments with the people who made it happen.

A season worth keeping.

05NOV 2025 / KYOTO, JAPAN

November in KyotoKyoto,
in the colours of autumn.

Bamboo overhead, maple leaves underfoot, a bowl of soba, and streets worth taking slowly. November in Kyoto, collected one photograph at a time.

06JAN 2026 / SINGAPORE

January, elsewhereA January
far from winter.

Water at the edge of the skyline, jellyfish suspended in blue, and a sign at Sentosa pointing to the southernmost point of continental Asia. A different beginning to the year.

May in JejuArms open,
facing the sea.

Black basalt, bright water, a boat’s white wake. Then the softer side of Jeju: a pool, evening streets, and the sun going down over the sea.

The questions keep growing. So does the story.

082026 / MATHEMATICS & MACHINE LEARNING

Learning to do researchFrom solving problems
to finding questions.

Bringing mathematical curiosity into machine learning. From small models learning group multiplication to training dynamics and algorithmic generalization, I am learning to build explanations that can be tested.
